Scottish Song of the Day (43): Zeke Manyika

I’ve realised that I’ve sometimes been typing the title Scottish Song of the day, and other times I’ve been leaving it off. There’s nothing sinister in that, just me not quite knowing what this wee feature series is all about.

Zeke was a member of Orange Juice, but born in Zimbabwe, but if we apply the rules that allow Jordan Rhodes, Franz Ferdinand and if you believe the Daily Mail, around 75% of the Olympic squad to be embraced in our multicultural society, then Edwyn Collins’ old percussionist mucker is as Scots as haggis, neeps and Snow Patrol.
I first saw this, I think, on an NME video that I still have somewhere. Rather pleased to find it online and in decent quality. As for the song, well, it reminds me of Cabaret Voltaire, and probably is unlike anything that was coming from north of the border at the time. (Even if he’d probably moved by then!)
